Physiotherapy is strongly recommended both before and after hip or knee surgery. Preparing your body ahead of surgery — known as pre-rehabilitation — and following a structured program afterwards can significantly improve how quickly and fully you recover.
Physiotherapists who specialise in hip and knee conditions bring extensive experience to each patient. Treatment is tailored to the individual, whether that means targeted care for a specific soft tissue injury or a broader approach for conditions like osteoarthritis — including the evidence-based GLA:D program prior to considering surgery below.
Hip and knee reconstruction and replacement is specialised surgery, and it is important to work with a physiotherapist who has specific training and experience in this area. Returning to exercise after surgery is a key part of the recovery journey, and expert guidance ensures this is done safely and effectively.
